What's New at WAFCC?

Governor Evers Signs 2025-2027 Biennial Budget - FCC Grant Increase Approved!

We’re proud to share a major milestone in our continued advocacy for Free and Charitable Clinics across Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has entrusted WAFCC with the responsibility of managing two critical grant programs: the Free and Charitable Clinic Grant and the Dental Access Grant.

As part of this development, both grants will see significant increases in funding. The Free and Charitable Clinic Grant will grow from $2.25 million to $3 million annually. The Dental Access Grant will increase from $1.7 million to $1.95 million per year. Combined, these programs will now receive $4.95 million annually - up from $3.95 million.  A $1 million increase year over year, or 25.3%!

Most importantly, these funding levels are now written into statute and will extend indefinitely beyond the current biennium, providing long-term support and stability for clinics across the state.

A significant portion of the new funding is expected to support efforts to improve access to Medicaid dental services. Many of Wisconsin’s dental clinics are equipped with the space and capacity to serve more patients but face staffing shortages due to limited funding. These new investments will help clinics expand staff and services to reach more patients in need—especially those who have been waiting months for care.

We want to thank everyone who contributed to this success, and we are grateful to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for their continued partnership. This progress would not be possible without the collective effort and dedication of our clinics, supporters, and advocates across the state.

Thank you for helping us strengthen access to care for the people who need it most.
