The Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics was founded in 2014.
There are over 90 free & charitable clinics in Wisconsin serving over 60 counties. Free & charitable clinics are the safety-net provider for 89,000 Wisconsinites. Post -ACA, close to 9% of Wisconsin residents have no health insurance with many counties still in the double digits for uninsured, and even more residents do not have dental insurance or access to mental health services.
Every industry or group of organizations with similar interests does well to have an association to represent and promote them. This is what WAFCC does for Wisconsin's free and charitable clinics. WAFCC tells the story of Wisconsin's safety-net clinic, their communities, their patients, and their continued need. Until there is no longer a need for free and charitable clinics, WAFCC will be here advocating for Wisconsin's vulnerable populations and for the elimination of health disparities.
