WHAT IS AMERICORPS VISTA?
AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members make a year-long full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization, such as with WAFCC and the five host-site free & charitable clinics. If you are a legal resident and are 18 years or older - you can apply to be a VISTA member at one of the WAFCC VISTA sites.
With passion, commitment, and hard work, VISTA Members bring individuals and communities out of poverty and improve access to quality health care. WAFCC VISTA Members focus their efforts on building the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of the safety-net to implement and achieve the Standards of Excellence or Reduce Substance/Opiate Abuse, thereby improving access for those in poverty to quality health care services. VISTA Members are hosted by WAFCC member clinics or Department of Health Services.
